Birth Photography

Cost: $600

Birth photography has the ability to capture the essence of your birth in a way that brings you back to the magic of that moment, every time you look at the images.  There are so many things that you miss when you are in labor since you are busy focusing on other tasks at hand (like birthing a baby!), that you are then able to see when you look back at your pictures…Your partner looking at you lovingly, and with amazement in his eyes, as he watches you bring forth his child into the world…Your older child holding a wash cloth to your forehead, bringing you water to drink or rubbing your back, trying their best to comfort you…Your face as you bring your baby up into your arms, and meet the little one you have been in love with for the last 9 months.  Birth photography doesn’t make these moments happen, but it captures them when they do, so that you will remember them forever.

Exclusively available to the clients of Heritage Births, Jeff Wyatt offers this add-on service to your “Birth Center Package'“ at a fraction of the price of other photographers, so as to make it affordable for every client who desires to have their birth forever captured.  It is one of our regrets that we did not have a professional photographer present for the births of our children, so we wanted to make sure that our Heritage clients do not have to miss out on their amazing experience being documented for them to enjoy for years to come.  (To learn more about Jeff and see if he would be the right fit for you, please check out his bio on the “Meet Your Team” tab or call us to schedule a free interview)

Birth Photography Service Includes:

  • Jeff will meet with you and your partner, around the 36-week mark of your pregnancy, to find out what type of images you would like him to take or not take, and to create a customized photography plan for your birth.

  • Jeff will be in attendance at your birth, alongside your midwife, from when you are admitted in active labor until you head home with your little one after birth (approx. 6-12 hours).

  • Jeff uses a newer mirrorless camera that has a silent shutter, and he does not use a flash (even in dim lighting!). This means you are not going to have a flash of light or the noise of a camera click occurring with each picture taken. He also uses three different lenses, which gives you regular, wide angle and close up photos, all while he is staying on the sidelines and not intruding on your special moment.

  • Within 24-48 hours of your birth, Jeff will select 10-15 “PG rated” images that you can use for your birth announcement. These images will be sized for social media and texting platforms, so they are easy for you to share with friends and family. We will either airdrop, text, or email these photos to you (whichever you prefer).

  • Jeff will load approx. 70-150 color & black and white images onto a flash drive that we provide for you to keep, within a few weeks of your birth. This way you can use them or make prints as soon as possible. We do not charge you for prints, and we give you free use of all your images to do with what you would like.

  • Jeff has photographed over 50 birth center births since 2021, and photographs exclusively at Heritage Birth Center, so he knows just where to stand to capture those perfect pictures and how to work with your lighting to get the best possible images.  As Alexandra’s husband, and an employee of Heritage Births, Jeff understands how private and intimate this experience is for you and your partner, and he will do everything possible to protect and preserve your modesty.

To see examples of his work, all the photographs you see on our website were taken by Jeff!

Testimonials

  • ”Jeff did a great job with photography, and moved around capturing beautiful moments without ever being intrusive and in fact, he was able to work without us noticing him at times throughout labor. ~Teagie & Roy McBeth

  • “Jeff did our birth photography and there seriously are no words but I’ll try. Gorgeous. Precious. Intimate. Sacred. Powerful. He was part of the party during labor. :) But when things got REAL, he was discreet, quiet, and stealthy. He captured some of the most beautiful, powerful birth pictures and I HIGHLY recommended that you add him to your birth package.” ~Sarah Ellis

  • “We used the in-house photography and totally recommend!!!! Jeff is the best and so funny. He and Alex are a precious pair!” ~Hayley Gildersleeve

  • “Given that my birth experience is such a treasured memory, I'm so very glad we engaged Alex's husband Jeff to be our birth photographer.  I barely knew he was in my room, and it was never awkward or invasive.  And now I have photos to treasure always and to show my daughter one day.” ~Rachel Rickel
